Cooperative work methods jigsaw puzzle

Processing learning material

A jigsaw puzzle is one of 17 cooperative work methods to look up and share learning material.

The teacher divides the material in 4 equal shares. Students gather in groups of four. Every groups' number 1 sit together and work out their part, which entails listening to each other, discussing and coming to an agreement. Every groups' numbers 2, 3 and 4 do the same.
Next, the students return to their original groups and combine all information or present the information they have gained to each other. Then, the teacher evaluates the group result with the students.

There are 2 options:

  • Open 1 Presenter file, divide the material in 4 parts and present it on four different pages. Save the file and share it with the students. Each group will have their own page to work with.
  • Divide the material in 4 Presenter files. Save these files and share them with the groups. Each group will have one file to work with. Each group completes several pages in their own Presenter file. Save the files and share them with all students.
