Purpose

  • Using mathematical terminology
  • Dividing numbers up to 8
  • Adding and subtracting up to 15

Use this tool to teach the concepts of 'equals', 'more than' and 'less than'. Place blue cards in different places on the math balance and the arms show whether the scale is balanced.

Press the cursor button in the toolbar to control the tool. Drag a blue card to a place on the right arm of the math balance. The math balance moves and is now off balance. The green light at the base of the math balance switches to red. Drag another blue card to a place on the left arm of the math balance. If the math balance is balanced again, the light switches back to green.

Click on the settings button to adjust the tool settings. You can choose whether or not to show the values above the arms of the math balance. Click on the settings button again or next to the settings menu to close the menu. Clear the math balance with the reset button.
