Purpose

  • Drawing points, lines and shapes in the coordinate system
  • Interpreting the coordinate system

A coordinate system can consist of an x-axis (horizontal line) and a y-axis (vertical line). The point where the axes intersect is called the origin O. You can determine a point in the coordinate system by means of coordinates. For this you need two coordinates: the x-coordinate and the y-coordinate. These two coordinates are displayed between brackets.

Press the cursor button in the toolbar to control the tool.

  • The 'Point' button is selected in the bar on default. Click somewhere in the coordinate system to draw a point. Select the 'Line' button to draw a line. Choose a starting point and then an end point. The line will be drawn automatically.
  • The 'Line with two points' button draws a line between two points across the entire length oft the coordinate system.
  • Create a shape with the 'Shape' button by drawing several points along the outlines of the desired shape. The shape will evolve when you arrive back at the point selected first. You can adjust the tool settings in the settings menu.

You can adjust line thickness and colours in the bar. Click on the 'Reset' button to clear the coordinate system.
