Purpose

  • Visualising mathematical ratios
  • Gaining insight in the decimal system
  • Gaining insight in the value of digits in numbers and the number structure
  • Practising the addition and subtraction of numbers

Practise 'Counting blocks', 'Adding blocks' and 'Solving equations'.

Press the cursor button in the toolbar to control the tool. Activate practise mode in the toolbar. Select an exercise, choose the numbers and the number of equations. Select whether to turn on the place value table or not. Press 'Start' to start practising.

If the exercise has been completed correctly, a green check mark will appear at the bottom and the green 0 will become a green 1. If the exercise has not been completed correctly, a red 'x' will appear at the bottom and the red 0 will become a red 1.
The next exercise is generated and presented automatically. You can review all the answers once you finish. Select 'Stop' to go back to the settings menu of the practise mode.

  • Block counting
    View the single blocks, bars, squares and/or cubes. It is not possible to move or divide them. Count all blocks and type a number in the text box at the top. Next, select the '>' button next to the text box.
  • Add blocks
    View the number above the tool. Drag single blocks, bars, squares and/or cubes to the white field. Next, select the '>' button next to the text box.
  • Solve sums
    View the equation above the tool. Drag single blocks, bars, squares and/or cubes to the white field. Solve the equation in the text box and select '>' next to it.
